My Beef with the Trending Topics
Every time I log on to Twitter there are a few things I have to check before I do anything else. The first place my eyes always divert is to that little box on the left side of the page which holds none other then the trending topics. The trending topics can sometimes be a life line for me. For the first time in my life, I don't have cable. I thought this would drive me crazy and at while at times it does, it has forced me to seek out other entertainment options that I otherwise wouldn't have discovered.

I'm not just going to sit here and tell you how to use Twitter or how not to use Twitter. There are a approximately 637 other blog posts out they that can tell you that. Instead, I'm going to show you. Below you will find two interesting Twitter encounters I had in the past two weeks. One exceptional example, and one not so exceptional example.
Yesterday, Klout announced some big changes to the algorithm it uses to calculate your influence score. This came much to the dismay of its users as many took to the Twitterverse, moaning and groaning about how the changes made their score drop 20+ points. With that kind of Klout score, they'll never be able to buy a car, rent an apartment, or take out a loan. Oh wait, I'm sorry, that's a credit score. You know, a number that is actually significant in life.
